Day 301: Did Ya Miss Me?

So, apparently I didn’t actually punch the publish button yesterday. Sigh. This having to be retrained every few days is getting tiresome.

I did get out today and talked about not walking yesterday.

As you were talking about the superbowl I was thinking GFL thoughts, too. 🙂

I’d definitely be interested in hearing your elaborated thoughts on which of your books was most successful for which reasons and why. I’m not generally able to pick a favorite or even rank them at all, but I often think about how a certain one is really great for x reason.

Yes, I missed you! I’m happy that you are feeling better now and I was hoping you would not come out yesterday in the bad weather.

    Hi Nate,
Good to hear you’re feeling a bit better.

Regarding writing, you were always kind a of a binge writer, so I guess it shouldn’t be too surprising that converting to an “everyday” structure isn’t so easy. That said, I’ve wondered a bit whether an off-site office would help? Some you could go at the same time, for the same number of hours a day, without distraction, and just write what you want. Debora Geary was also mentioning that an office away from home was what allowed her to get so much done.

Your voice is so original in the first Ismael Wang books, that I found myself, at some point, thinking “don’t listen to what anyone else says about writing! You’ll ruin yourself!” But I suspect that while there may be some back and forth, you’ll still come back to your own voice, writing what you want to hear, and just incorporating the useful pieces you’ve learned from others.

      Thanks, Chong.

That’s my idea. I know I break a lot of “rules” in writing and story telling. I also follow some that I don’t know about. They just happen.

My goal in going to the writing retreat is to get away and write for about 10-15 hours a day for awhile. I need that separation and that renewal of working with new people in new places.

If I learn something, that’ll give me a choice as to how much of it I use in my own writing. Might be something good! 😀

I missed you but I just thought you were still snowed in.
