What do you think of homeschooling as it is today? I live in a place (Montana) with a lot of homeschoolers. What I have observed is—-Christopher Paolino’s book publ at 15y/o and a 9 y/o boy who could not write his own name yet. Thing is, there is NO oversight that I can see. That seems just as bad as all the testing, etc. you mentioned. By law, all children have to go to school until 16, but with homeschoolers, there is no oversight to see that they learn anything as far as I can see, and as pointed out above, I have seen both sides of this. The ones who excel and the ones who learn nothing, zilch, etc. I know of one homeschooler who could not pass the army’s test and it is not a test for rocket scientists. I think that is a waste of a mind. Don’t know the answer though, so just wanted your thoughts on the subject. PS I am a nurse, not a teacher, at least of basic content. (Taught nursing students)
