You mentioned beside the inimitable Geary that you have not read much else recently you would recommend.
If you have not tried it, I have discovered the “Origins (Spinward Fringe)” series by Randolph Lalonde which I would recommend whilst awaiting more of the Ishmael goodness 🙂

I have tried it … and liked what I saw but the problem I had is that they’re all *really* short books and read more like a serial than a series. (I could be mistaking this with another series so feel free to correct me).

Once you get your eyes settled and your new glasses, you should be amazed at what you can see. I hope that you are wearing your sun glasses when you go outside, it should help protect your eyes. My husband and I have both had our eyes done, so we have been there and done that.
I still think it is amazing that you have been able to do what you have.
