C. J. Cherryh – Downbelow Station
James P. Hogan – Two Faces of Tomorrow (space station involved – makes good point about how inefficient planets are).
Ah, well – I still think the symbolism works, even if it wasn’t intentional. I’ll have to re-read, though – I didn’t get the impression the dream was more than representational of what was happening, rather than it being the medium through which she unconsciously worked on it.
Oh, I keep meaning to ask something about the symbolism in Zypheria’s Call. I know the river bed with the pebbles filling in the hole are symbolic of Tanyth’s broken arm healing, but is it also symbolic of her and Frank fixing the “break” in the flow of traffic along the Overton Pike?

Thanks, Tara Li…I knew it was wrong when I said it. I just couldn’t pull up the right names.
I was trying to think back to the books I read in middle school. Alan E. Nourse, Bradbury, Asimov, Pat Frank, Andre Norton…Heinlein, of course.
Hogan and Cherryh were both later.
As for the symbolism, it was just her arm healing. And it took a toll on her to do it.
