Perhaps you should consider *scheduling* Saturdays and Sundays as rest days/family chore days. Make sure everyone understands that if it’s not on the shopping list first thing Saturday morning, it probably ain’t getting picked up until next Saturday… Things like that.
Hey, writing is your *JOB* now. Sure, it’s handy if it absolutely cannot be done at any other time – but otherwise, they should be thinking in terms of “What if Dad were teaching class right now? Is this important enough to interrupt his class with?”
And I know, from my Mom’s experiences, that teaching isn’t really a 9-5 job (or 8-3, or whatever the school’s schedule is nominally), but there were huge swaths of her day that were *NOT* optional.
