It was unpleasant out there this morning.
But I did it. Looking forward to getting back into the marking here in a few minutes.

So … for a week or more, I’ve been wanting to comment, “No, there is no badge for distance walked. It is one of the most requested badges, and lots of people think it should replace the silly Seer badge, which is the only badge that relies on Niantic employees rather than your own work to achieve.”
… but I never found time to do it when at a computer where it would be easy to do, until right now. An hour or so after they finally added the badge! So, you should have at least a bronze “Trekker” badge now, if not the silver. I opened Ingress on my way back to the office from lunch a little while ago only to be awarded platinum Trekker, bronze SpecOps and bronze Engineer (which clearly only recently started counting — maybe within the week or two — as everybody who’s been playing for ages has a very low count). The platinum Trekker badge made the level-up bell “ding!” and I hit L15. That was a big surprise.
P.S. If you tap the octagon at the top left of your scanner (Ingress app), you can see your stats. All the available badges are displayed there, though many will be “locked”. You can still tap each one and see what it requires — what kind of activity and what count — and the name of the badge.
