You can rest easy – you do not need to close apps on your new phone. Its not saving battery life, and obsessively closing apps can actually use more battery. You’re phone is doing complex memory and process management on each application to minimize battery usage while still providing the desired functionality. Force closing apps effectively circumvents that, causing the app to reload from start instead of resuming from the various levels of suspended state that exist for this purpose.
