Smoke Gets In My Eyes

The Alexander Mountain fire is approaching 10,000 acres about 35 miles to the west. It’s spreading fast and the smokey haze is noticeably thicker this morning. I’m going to minimize my outdoor exposure, at least for today, so no walk.

Maybe tomorrow but the fire is only 1% contained. It doesn’t bode well.

Day 2503: Not the Hellscape I Expected

Two wildfires within 100 miles to the west. 74F before sunrise. I walked anyway and it wasn’t terrible. A cooling breeze helped cut the heat back a bit. The smoke has dispersed enough for the moment that I couldn’t smell it (although I might just be inured to it). I had plenty of shade even if the sun was higher that I would have liked.

Talked about yesterday’s car shopping, finishing off Chandler’s Reluctant Sovereign, and starting Jenny Shwartz’s next Delphic Dame novel.

Day 2502: Cars, Man. Cars.

I whined about the economics of car ownership where a minor fender bender can total a vehicle. Also Mackey Chandler’s Family Law series and why I find it so engaging. Also there’s a forest fire about 35-40 miles west of us. Fun times.
