Day 2632: Baking Day

Not much to say today. Talked more about Kingsolver’s Rosie O’Grady series, a bit about Shackleford House, and a few words about my experiments with GOG and Banished to see how far off the path I can get. At the moment, I’m rather tied to Steam for Enshrouded and the rest of my main gaming fixes, but that might change.

Just curious if you’ve looked at Lois McMaster Bujold’s Penric & Desdemona series of novellas. Her novels are tradpub, but she went indy on her Penric series. They’re set in her world of the 5 gods and follow a young man posessed of a learned and complex demon. She’s a really good story teller.

That sounds familiar, but I haven’t looked at her work in a while. Thanks for the tip.look

ETA: I looked them up. They’re not self pubbed. Her agent publishes them along with a few others. Agents as publishers seems like some kind of misappropriation of the agent-client relationship. “Oh, we couldn’t find somebody who’d publish it so we’ll do it for you. How’s that sound?”

It makes me wonder how hard they looked…

KKR has… Words… and… Opinions… about that kind of thing.

Do you have a listing somewhere of your posts in various places on the One True Fan approach you use? There’s quite a few fanfic writers I know moving into writing original and looking for how to publish or get published. It’s easy enough to point them at KKR’s Business Rusch stuff, but I’d like to point them at your One True Fan stuff so they don’t get into the whole daily mailing list and trading copies around and paying for “free copy” placements…
