The first half of the walk, traffic plagued me. I was trying to talk about how odd it felt to be dissected by The Watchers and I’m afraid I was too distracted by the noise of the cars going by. There’s probably a lesson for me there.

I think you’re right about getting away to a conference being a way to recharge. A few days away from the every-day grind can make a big difference in one’s mental health and ability to be productive.
