Day 21: The Million Follower Fallacy

Yesterday I got embroiled in a discussion about the nature of a large convention. In one of my comments I mentioned the Million Follower Fallacy. Nobilis suggested that I talk about that today. On a day with a strong root in numbers — behaviorists hold that anything you do 21 days in a row is a habit — that seemed like a good choice.

Shortly after I took that picture, it started snowing. It was a bit grumblish out there.

You are absolutely right : I don’t just buy a book, I buy an author. I sample books like I do podcasts. I know what I like and what I don’t like and publicity has nothing to do with it. You can hit my head repeatedly with publicity, you will just annoy me.

But if I like the author, I will get the word out and buy everything he or she write. Like I do for such as Marion Zimmer Bradley (RIP), Julliett Marillier, Edward Rutherford… or Nathan Lowell. 😉

    Have a nice day !
