A friend once told me that when you release art into the world it becomes the audience’s work, not the creators. Maybe that explains some of the odd (for you) feedback you get on Ishmael. As you’ve said before, people respond so strongly because you’ve drawn (written?) them in and they care about your characters. That has to be a good thing. For me, they’re your stories and I want to see where you take Ishmael.
The other thing you have me thinking about is just because Ishmael learns/knows/acknowledges that they’re problems in his universe doesn’t mean he has to become jaded. Maybe Ishmael can still “trust Lois,” or maybe he can’t. Personally I can’t wait to read what happens next.

Is that the same dog every day?
