Day 1025: Broken Up Day

Today’s a bit of a mess in terms of schedule … :/

And yes, I know I said “August the third” and I DO know it’s September.

My mouth doesn’t believe me.

ROFLMAO! Sorry Capt’n. Weed eaters with metal blades. Barking dogs. Some days of lots of cheery, “Good mornings!”, as it seems dozens of people pass by you. (Really? You have to be so friendly and not surly and give them the ‘odd’ look encouraging them to move to the other side of the street so you can talk. Then the periods of silences and then findings of you’re not not thinking of books, but breakfast. Mutterings, some times several periods of mutterings.

… and yet, we keep coming back to listen to your pod cast’s. For all this, this is you, and “We love you for it. You’re being a real person.” We really do. Please, don’t ever change. And good luck with your mining. I enjoy hearing about what Eve on Line is, and how much it gives you pleasure.

Please have a wonderful day, Nathan. You always make my own day just a bit brighter listening to you. Hugs.

I can almost imagine Natalie, who I haven’t even met yet, stomping around in a Natalieish way barking at you “You aren’t going to take me there, don’t try it, I won’t go!”
So back to the old drawing (writing) board and put her where she wants to go. Sorry, Nate, she sounds pretty determined. I’m glad you listen though.

In regards to Eve trading, What I have done in the past and a couple of friends still do is pick a region to set up shop in (best to avoid the main trade hub regions such as The Forge) and then work out what you are going to trade.

As at the time I had a few Billion Isk so I went for ships, mostly T1 and T2 frigates, cruisers and indy’s with the odd T1 battleships. I would set-up regional buy orders for the ships for just above the current highest buy order price and then it’s just a waiting game (which I was never any good at), and the 0.1 Isk war with other people trying to trade in the same region.

Once someone fills one of my buy orders I would NOT move the ships to a hub or another region, I would just re-list them for sale where I had bought them. while you possible could get more for them by moving them the time and the logistics needed to move them was far too much effort for the extra few Isk (might be different if you pick smaller items to trade).

While most of my buy orders were for the ships that I have just said I would also put up a buy order for a freighter or two, these don’t tend to have regional buy orders, at the time they were selling for about 1 billion Isk and would put the buy order up for somewhere in that ball park… minus a zero.

You would be surprised how often you could pick up a freighter for a 100 million and sell it on for a cool 900 million profit from people that just don’t pay attention, it does also work with the other capital ships but you’ll need to be in a region with a sizable low-sec area.

When people talk about “hotspot trading” I think they are talking about 0.0 conflicts where there is daily fighting, unless you have contacts on one side or the other that will allow you docking rights and not kill you on sight it’s not worth the risk as you would not likely be able to supply what they need in the quantity’s they want. The other hotspots would be faction warfare which would be less risky but they are also close to empire and not too far from trade hubs and you would only sell to the lazy (which is where the most profit can be made)

Sorry for the mini essay 🙂
