I’ve finished reading Postman’s Technopoly and started on Hughes’ The Human-Built World. His main thrust is that the sum of human’s technological innovation can be summed up by “we’re trying to recreate the Garden of Eden.”
Yeah. I think he’s missing a few things — a few of his marbles, the odd brick, and the notion that by arbitrarily limiting his framing of the discussion, he’s directing the conclusion in advance. That rather diminishes his argument.
