Clearly I need to bone up on SF history before the 14th.

    One suggestion – don’t forget about Lovecraft in your list of sci-fi authors. Although one immediately thinks of horror, Re-animator neatly straddles the two categories. Also, Cthulu is like a giant squid… Yeah.
