Re: fear of being tossed out the airlock – – shades of Heinlein’s “An armed society is a polite society?” or his The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress?
I have been getting a strong Firefly vibe from the concept of Toehold space. Is it possible that all of the books to this point take place in what is the equivalent of Firefly’s Alliance space, and we’ve been rooting for the Alliance, while Toehold space is the wilder, less centrally controlled places that Mal and the Firefly crew spent their one season in, and would be more appealing to libertarian types?
