Congratulations on the suprise Parsec nomination, and in fact, on *BOTH* of your Parsec nominations!

Here’s hoping for a double header win this year!

  2. Anita says:

Great news! Congratulations!! The short story makes you sort of think about how you “don’t write short stories” doesn’t it. Maybe the question is: what is it you need the long form for? My opinion is that you do both long and short very well. Short is different, but you are certainly able to get that entertaining story into it. You are also great at filling in the long form such that I as a reader flow along with it. And it does not hurt at all that you can really nail it in the audio format! You are a gift and I’m happy to hear you articulate that your purpose in writing is exactly what it appears to be when one reads your work.

Ok, so when is the next book coming?!! 😉

Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition from the Parsec Awards committee and your peers!
On a different topic—you have a great deal of knowledge about “new strategies” to get your name out before your target audience, and you are the best success story to promote your methods. Would you consider doing a “lesson plan” for wannabe writers? Heck, you could publish a nonfiction Kindle booklet on the subject, and I bet you’d sell a million of them! Well, maybe half a million.

  4. Nathan says:

    Hm.

    That’s an interesting idea, Joyce.

Lemme mull it over and think if there’s anything more than “Write, Read, Repeat” that might flesh out something like that.

  5. Congrats on the two Parsec finalist nods! I thought both were REALLY good … with the short being particularly innovative. I hope there is a lot more “dark continent” steam punk sometime, I think the combination works particularly well. 🙂

Thanks for your additional thoughts on the “thousand true fan” concept; how it is not the real goal but a way of accomplishing the goal of entertaining others. It does matter which proverbial horse is pulling which proverbial cart.
