Nate, for the most part I agree with your opinion concerning the zombies, vampires and werewolves genres. They are usually rather mindless, excessively gratuitous and even after starting off with good intentions of theme or plot, tend to devolve into horror for horror’s sake. An exception to this is Mike Bennett’s very fine podcast novel, “Underwood & Flinch” (currently up to episode 36). You might give it a listen. 😉
If you want to get through a book quickly, this is what I do – though you may be a fast text reader with your eyes you can do this while doing other things throughout the day – I have found that listening to audiobooks and podcast novels 2 times faster than their normal speed is something that’s not as hard as you would think to get used to. I listen to all your #TOMMW at 2x and I can clearly hear everything and it’s nice to be able to consume more audio content this way. You might want to try listeningto South Coast at 2x and then you’d be able to get through it while being a taxi driver for your kids among other things. Just my $0.02 🙂 Great episode.
