I managed to find the ending while putting together the beat sheet. I need to write it now and tie this MS up as “first draft” so I can move on.

I’m glad to hear that you have a new set of tools to help you with putting your stories together. I know that in the past you have told us that you are a pantser, and I can see how that can work when you have an open ended story to tell. However you currently have a universe defined with a history both in the past of where you are writing, as well is in the future. These new tools seem to me to be an ideal way to get a quick rough cut that still lets your characters tell you what happens next without having to get into all of the detail right away. You can then figure out what makes sense in the larger universe, and only need to go into detail for those segments.
