Day 165: Labor Day

Yeah – except I’m probably not going to get much labor done today, either.

Le sigh.

It always makes me a little nervous when authors (or creators of other media) start talking about changing things to suit a portion of their audience. In your case you mentioned 10% and that sounds like a lot of people that aren’t happy, but when I hear that I automatically think of the 90% that obviously were fine with what you’ve done. Changing anything to suit a small minority risks alienating some of the majority.

Done right, you can probably gain back some of that 10% and keep most of the 90%, but I suspect that it would be easy to screw up.

Understandable that it would make you nervous.

Makes me nervous, too, but the reality is that I do think Ravenwood might be the best book I’ve done and it’s very different from all the rest – and not just in genre.

I’ll take your word for it as I haven’t read Ravenwood yet. I got through the first chapter, but was then distracted and haven’t started listening again yet.

For the record, your 3,500 word day was the first day of our small race. A race I’d have been happy to lose :).
