No, not the old western–that was Ponderosa, which now that I think about it could be a Harry Potter spell. “Rawhidius Ponderosa!” This morning I’m thinking about the new Presents site, talk a little about today’s featured act, and about why I’ve made some of my decisions re blog design.

Outstanding rant with very nice finish! 🙂
Envy in full force. It’s not fair I want some to. Now that I have had my 2 year old rant I hope it is as good as you are expecting.
As much as I know you need and want to write, the journals sound like an awesome idea!
Speaking of scattered websites, what about durandus.org itself? Yeah, the Solar Clipper forums are still there (and sporadically active), but there’s some limited bits of blogging, and this and that…
The Durandus sites need to get folded into the nathanlowell.com brand … one of these days perhaps I’ll get to it.
We done Sar. A fine dicussion this morning.

After much digging, I finally found out more about the Rawhidius Ponderosa spell.
It’s a bit of a cautionary tale, showing why one should not cast a spell when one does not know what it does.
It seems Harry himself found the spell, and with typical Gryffindor bravery/foolhardiness, instead of waiting for Hermione to look it up, he cast the spell.
Sadly, he was out after curfew, exploring the castle, and had a certain tool he’d gotten from the Weasley Twins in his third year stored in the pocket of his robes, while hiding under his invisibility cloak.
He lost both relics of his father to fire damage, and spent several hours in the infirmary while Madam Pomphry treated the burns.
