1) Eyeglasses – tooldip isn’t that expensive. Nor is glue, rubber cement, and a few other things artsy types might have for coating bare wires.
2) Install Skyrim to separate partition, or network share. Use Linux to cp the raw partition device somewhere, so you can cp it back into place to restore.
