Yes, I’m fifty-nine today. When I was born there were only 48 stars on the flag and mankind had not yet gone into space. TV was a novelty and a computer filled a building. Today I recorded a podcast on my mobile phone using more computing power than that room-filling behemoth. I edited it on a computer with more power than all of the ones that flew to the moon. I’m uploading it to a global network accessible to more people than were alive when I was born, and a couple of hundred people from around the world will download it and listen to the words I spoke this morning while talking on my morning walk.

Happy Birthday!!! I have been thinking how to celebrate your birthday. I have been wanting to have some Mexican food so I made a 7-layer Mexican Dip and we are going to have beef and chicken Tacos with all the traditional trimmings for supper. With no sugar added Butter Pecan Ice Cream for quince the fire I hope. I will have to take about six cinnamon tablets to help keep my blood sugar down but hey we have let loose on the Captains birthday.
