I was a teletype operator in the US Navy – – not a Radioman, but a Cryptologic Technician. Remember having to learn to read the holes punched in teletype ribbon, and to “butterfly” the ribbons around one’s palm?
Congratulations on the walk and the Birthday. I loved hearing the trail of life. I’m 6 years older than you and thought about where I was at those points in your life. I noted before that we both spent time on Governor’s Island. I was there in 65-66 while it was still Army and was there a few months after almost all Army left and the CG was in charge. I worked in the ER and did immunizations until a nurse came on. Then I got to choose what I wanted to do after that. Highly unusual to have that opportunity in the Army!
Happy birthday for Tuesday, I missed this pop-up in my feed so only listened this morning. I hope it was a good day.
I really enjoyed the “history of Nathan”. I find it fascinating to see how an author’s past shapes their writing. Thank you for sharing.
