Hey, just wondering how did the university waypoints get chosen?

It’s pretty sad how many people don’t really understand twitter, or at least not twitter etiquette. I get people that follow me all of the time that almost always describe themselves as some budding new author or other, and I just -know- that they looked at some authors page and followed every single person that that author follows and all of his/her followers, too. It’s just sad to see them following 9,000 people and having 35 followers.

They’re doing it so wrong and they don’t even know.

I forgot to comment on what I do for getting books besides recommendations from friends.

Goodreads is a new way for me. I found folks there who have read some books I like and rated them high. I compare our book lists to see how many of our books are the same. Then I look at other books they have read or plan to read.

I also look at the B&N Free Friday books. I get some tips from Science Friday where they often have authors talking about the topics of their books.

I have a card for an elibrary. Sometimes I’ll go there and do a search on their books according to the date they’ve received it. Many times some recent book will catch my eye. I will then do a search there on the author and also check the author out on FantasticFiction.co.uk and/or Goodreads.com.

I think it is fun to discover musical talent however it is presented. I love all kinds of music from classical to some of Lady GaGa, but it is specific to that song or this piece or whatever. I love not having to buy whole albums anymore. BUT (huge but) there has to be some natural talent involved. I was in a restaurant and they were playing music in the background. It caught my attention alright. Two pieces in a row had singers who couldn’t hit a note straight on if it came up and smacked them and, unfortunately, I hear off notes. I’m sure they were laughing all the way to the bank, but I did not enjoy it. I know some voices are mostly studio engineered, but that is ok I suppose, if there is some talent in presentation, but well, I guess I can pick and choose like everyone else, but if I hear a bad song by a musician, I tend to ignore them thereafter. I have to admit, I work that way with books too. The previous writers talking about how they choose books speak for me, too. Uncanny. I also rely on peoples opinions who have given good tips for new authors names, too. Works well in both genres.
