Day 282: Oh-Dark-Thirty

I had to get out early today so I had time to get to Ft Collins for the Northern Colorado Writers’ meeting.

There was a hiccup at the end. I recorded a closing and edited onto the end of the file.

I found the reason why there are so many problems. The camera was storing the morning photos on the device and not on the external card like it was supposed to. Fixed now and that should help future recordings.

Nate, according to what you are saying, these so-called ‘professional writers’ are exactly the ones who stand to benefit from what you have to say. 😉

    • Absolutely, but Nate’s intention in going to the writers’ workshop is primarily, presumably, to gain some benefit from it, not to pay for a workshop where he will only impart wisdom to help others. Well, at least the people running it ought to have some pearls of wisdom to impart, one hopes.

It is Jan. 10, only 1 day waning…….. I sincerely hope you are not setting off on the wrong day for your workshop.

Beautiful last night. All I needed was the silhouette of an owl (large) to complete the picture. We do have the big owls here, but not where I needed one last night. With owl, it would have been a beautiful, haunting picture. Without owl, it was still beautiful. Everything was basked in that full moon of white, clear light, with silhouettes of our empty tree limbs between. I imagined the owl anyway.

  3. I was listening to this episode on my way to work. I had to pause and write down a suggestion for the theme summary for you, Nathan:

“Sometimes where the journey needs to take you isn’t where you thought you needed to be.”

Variation: “is not” might sound better than “isn’t”.
Variation: Replace “to be.” with “to end up.”

  4. Tara Li says:

Interesting. Several people, including your sister, have come to the conclusion that Tanyth is a shape-shifter? I missed that one *COMPLETELY*.

Maybe part of it is that we’ve come to look for big, flashy magic, and miss the subtle magic that already exists in our lives. I have to wonder if Tanyth, after having built Gurdy into so much in her mind, is going to be disappointed (at least at first) when she actually does meet her.

  5. Chong Go says:

In terms of the headline for a blurb, the best I’ve come up with is:
    “Sometimes the journey(path) chooses us”

  6. Tony says:

The shape-shifter thing is a surprise to me, too. It seemed clear to me that there was an actual bird. It’s always nice to get that differing perspective though. 🙂

  7. aimee says:

what about…’where am I going?’ or ‘Not knowing’. But both of these as a place of strength and insight.
