I believe that there are a number of ePub readers available for most smartphones. Apps like Kobo, Nook, and Stanza. I’m not sure of how they would work on your device, or the ease of transferring downloaded files, but they would eliminate the need to convert files to a kindle format. On my phone I have Kindle, Stanza, and iBook for reading the different formats.
Sounds like your daughter has screwed her head on and is owning the situation and responsibility. I’d be proud of her too 🙂
