So – you’re almost to the University of Iowa now. Are you going to keep walking all the way to Balticon?

  2. Tony says:

While I hate to say it, I think you probably need to put your plans for new original work on hold until you fulfill your contractual obligation for a GFL novella. Having that lingering over your head all year can’t feel good and if it’s left to the last minute things could turn out very bad. I have a feeling it might take you a lot longer than you anticipate to complete.

Need a big enough room to have a recording studio, too, don’t you? So you can record without worrying about the washer/dryer and other family noises. You can sort of sound proof a small area, but that takes space. Don’t think you can get by with less than 8×12, especially if you share it with a lawn mower, etc. I think it could be neat.

You still haven’t bought those jeans? You were talking about that before Oregon. Get on the stick here. The time she is a goin’.

The guy outside the captain’s cabin, etc, was very well done. Remember how embarrassed the young man was? I caught it immediately even before Ishmael’s conversation with Mel and her being so upset because there was another guy caught in the web. You can’t read for these folks who aren’t there, so to speak. Look how many missed the significance of the “romance novels” written by, uh, Lorene, Lorraine Rosetti????? Well, yeah. I know 2 things the captain was doing in there all that time. I think even though people read, some still have problems with comprehension. That is ok, but they miss a lot. Some of the books I reread are ones I notice these kinds of things in and want to make sure I didn’t miss any. That is fun for me. I have reread your books many times. Our family likes this sort of thing. Keep going as you are. Some of us like it that way! 5 stars

  4. Tony says:

Once you make something that everyone likes, you’ll have achieved mediocrity. 🙂

    • Darren says:

Becouse its liked. Does not mean mediocrity, it means its done well. There are impacts to that if you want mass market sales you have to have mass market appeal. If this is job and not a passion then you have to approach it like a job and ask what gets the dollars. That is a catalog of books with 1 to 2 new ones every year in a eletronic or Brick store that have a great buzz that people buying them. A great book that only appeals to a handful is a passion may make you some funds but you doing things for you passions for differant reasons.

      • Tony says:

The way I see it, if -everyone- likes something then uniqueness was cut somewhere to give universal appeal. Just an opinion.

  5. Val says:

You know, Nathan, we’ll be at the hotel Thursday – if you want to give me or Laura a ring, we can come get you in the car from the train station. Let me know – we can dm you a phone number.
