Day 386: Tuesday Early

I got my butt moving this morning. That’s not necessarily a good thing.

I’d call this one “Nathan Lowell Unleashed.” I hope you feel better fast and that you get the necessary preparations done for the trip.

I say screw the people who bicker about the edits. I’d like to see them try and write a million words with no errors. On a positive note, that is one of the best pictures you’ve taken. It looks like a great background for a book cover. Have fun at Bolticon.

Speaking of editing, I love the inuend/pun from Mr. Vale about “Bolticon.” Was it intended?

Hey Nate, if you haven’t got rid of the phone yet look for a little blue app with a mic icon. That’s the memo app on my iPod Touch and my brother says is iPhone has it also (under utills on his)

    for what it’s worth…

oh and I agree with the others on the edit stuff, I’ve been finding typos and such in ‘pro-published’ stuff for as long as I can remember. It’s “nit-pick the indy”

Having worked as an independent press buyer for a major book wholesaler, I’d say that people definitely expect less from the indies when it comes to punctuation, spelling and grammar. (Heck, people tend to expect less from the indies in general.) The other side of that coin is that people actually grumble a lot *more* when they see a spelling error in something published by a major publisher. Simon & Schuster and Macmillan receive plenty of those angry letters about ‘its’ and ‘it’s’, believe me.

Hi Nate, My iphone can record voice memos out of the box with an in built app which is part of the operating system. However you have to use the itunes app to download/sync the voice memos. The eco-system of applications is great for us, apple fans and works awesome. But I know my open source friends don’t have iphones for itune sync reason. So… over to you. It will be fun to here about your aventures with the a new phone.

    Darren

  7. Tara Li says:

My Android tablet came out of the box with a recorder app, and I think it’ll even take a shot at voice-to-text, though I haven’t really tried that part of it. iPhones/iPads are nice, but you are paying a bit for the name. Of course, there’s a fair bit of that on the Android side too, with Sony and Motorola…
