Cataracts aren’t helping – lowering the contrast between the text and the background will probably help – and selecting another font might help as well, one in which commas and periods are more distinct.
My dad had cataract surgery on both eyes last year, and was amazed afterwards at how vivid colors had become. He hadn’t realized how much colors were fading.
If he had lens replacement, you might get him to check to see if he’s seeing ultraviolet now.

If nothing else just think of the nomination as evidence that even though you seem to feel at times that you haven’t had a lot of production this past year it wasn’t a year of getting nothing done. Even if you don’t have as many stories to show for it, it was a busy year.
