Day 406: Sunny Saturday

I tried out my new home made wind screen today. I got a file that was largely free of wind artifacts (I think). Is there anything else that stands out?

The sound was very quiet, (was there much wind?), and even the yappy dog at 2:30 was much more subdued than usual.

I’m loving the photos. Now I can see a difference in each day. Very nice. The sound was great today, too. Clever guy!

Rtf on a Nook for me would mean running it through calibre to make an epub, but then I don’t have my Nook rooted… Yet… I soooo want to root it just to do it. I love to play with putting stuff on hardware. What holds me back is the possibility of reduction in battery charge life. I doubt that I would use the Nook for much more than reading and as it is, I can convert to epub and read everything on the Nook. I’m assuming that whenever I used the Nook in Nook-mode, it would operate the same as now. I also assume that fooling around online with it would use charge.

What a dilemma. I want to play but have really no reason to do it. Nate, have you had any really big advantage in rooting yours?

Anita, I really only did it so I could make it look like a “ship’s tablet” by replacing the background. For the most part, I use it to read from while I’m recording. It saves a lot of printing and I never have “page turning” sounds.

On a scale of things, I probably wouldn’t do it again. It was a fun experiment but highly marginal on utility.

Thanks for that input. I think I’ll find better uses of my time for now.

I have a small tablet and just discovered that the two ebook reading programs I have on it will read rtf. I started out using FBReader, but recently found Cool Reader which I like. The advantage of FBReader is that you can look at “All” bookmarks which means a quick change to a different book. But I do like the sepia background and font color on Cool Reader and a very nice manual that comes with it. It does seem to be more configurable. Oh, and if you like that sort of thing, it has an autoscroll feature for reading. I can see times where I might want to use that, though not often. It’s nice to have available. I don’t know if these programs would install on the Nook.

Good sound, Nate. Plus one for the foam. 😉

    Re: Avengers prequels –

Don’t forget ‘The Incredible Hulk’ (2008) and ‘Captain America’ (2011). There are actually 5 Avengers movie ‘prequels total’. ^_^ Happy viewing!

    Iron Man I
    The Hulk
    Thor
    Captain America
    Iron Man 2

Also, forgot to add that your windscreen definitely works! Yesterday we could barely hear you. Today you were crystal clear.
