Congratulations on meeting your goal!! If you meet the next goal, it will be a total where you have lost 10%. That makes a big difference in the way one feels and in health overall.
Leaving the “Book 2” in the name of the book does have the advantage of letting folks know that there is a “Book 1.” They probably will pick up on it on the first episode, though, so that it doesn’t need to be repeated. When they hear this book they will be doing a search on your name, I’m sure!
From past experience, it seems wise to go ahead and produce Zypheria’s Call, not in a rush, but in the next week or two. The chances are slim that September will really be the release for Captain’s Share. If it is released then, I think people who like both your fantasy and your sci-fi will gladly get both. If they were the same genre, then I could see the issue, but they are not. I think I remember a release due one year that came out the next, or something similar. People are waiting and talking about Zypheria’s Call. You have it in your hand. It is the thing you have right now that would take the least time to produce. Putting out the first episode in audio was great. Jump on that momentum. That’s my thinking. Getting that out will give you energy, too! And you need it for the audio and Captain’s Share.
Congrats on the weigh-in. How satisfying to reach a goal, and then have that reward.
Re: Book numbering. The Share series was numbered, in a way. The shares themselves number the book. 1/4, 1/2. full, etc. Just something to consider in deciding whether to number this one. Btw, I vote yes about numbering, in case you’re counting. 🙂

How about “Zypheria’s Call: The second of Tanyth Fairport’s adventures” You may think that is more or less awkward, but gives you options to try out anyway. I don’t think folks care how, but it is nice to point out the order of the books since it is not obvious like it was for the Shares. I personally find it difficult to find a new series and not be able to figure out the order unless it is pointed out somewhere in Amazon. Mysteries are especially bad at this.
I think we each have our own process for finding that next read. I generally move on in my search when i see “part 2” or “3” etc. However, when I see Somewhere in the description that it is “next in a series” I will often check for the other titles and if they are available. It may be a holdover from the brick and morter bookstore but a hard habit to break. The question is not how you respond to “Part2” it is how you think everyone else not in your fan base will respond? Hard call.
