A little of this, a little of that this morning. Nothing too earth shattering.

The recording sound was good. Did not hear anything out of the ordinary. Thanks for sharing, and LOVE the Lilac pics! Have a safe trip, looking forward to your thoughts while on the trip as well.
Sound quality sounds fine – and I noticed that I think you either used half the bitrate, or did it in monaural instead of stereo (which wouldn’t make any difference, really). Tagging seems fine – everything showed up as normal in VLC, including the cover art. (OK, there was a pop/bong right when you went to take the picture – not sure what that was).
OK – just checked, using mpg123:

96kbit joint-stereo normal, vs. 64kbit mono today – overall file size, half of usual. Title entry didn’t get updated – not sure if that would be a software glitch or PEBKAC.
No breakage, and to *my* ear, on $25 standard computer speakers, no audible difference in quality.
I’m running Vinux, a distro based on Ubuntu 10, on an MSI Wind built in 2008. It works just fine. You could try it and kill the automatic start of Orca.
Interesting distro, Rill. Thanks for posting!
