I’m glad to hear you don’t equate “more commercial” with “a better story”, something some of your remarks back when you released Captain’s Share and Owner’s Share worried me about.
Yeah. There’s “more commercial” and “better story” .. and while there’s potentially an intersection between those two, it’s far from a perfect congruity. 🙂

The first chapter of Ravenwood really provides insight into Tanith and is quite valuable. I don’t think it’s “walking through the story” as the criticism is meant; her walking experience really is an significant part of who she is. Her background shows she could be any woman or every woman. That’s part of what makes your characters so appealing.
Telling the story is so much more important than following “rules.”
