Day 564: Sunny Day

I’m very glad the blizzard never appeared and the threatened load of snow missed us. Sunny day for the first day of daylight savings.

Flour problem: Weigh the four cups marking a line on a paper with each cup. Mark down the weight in your recipe. Then from that time forward, don’t bother all the scrape, etc–just weigh the flour. Naturally this needs to be repeated for each type of flour. Weighing flour is the best way to measure it.

I weighed the flour this time and wrote it down .. 1.5 pounds .. about 700grams .. and tested the recipe with that amount of flour to make sure I actually *did* measure it right.

No more flour malfunctions. Great idea Thanks.

  2. Hey Nate,

I’ve been wondering if you’ve heard Mur talk about what’s got her writing every day for the first time …… ever. Basically, she’s using a thing which gamifies writing. 🙂 http://murverse.com/tag/magic-spreadsheet/

You have yourself talked about the effectiveness of gamification of education … so perhaps you’d be open to trying gamification of your writing/production? 🙂

I’m a bit late commenting. I’m listening to older recordings while I wait for you to come back. Hope it’s okay to comment long after you’ve walked this walk.
re: measuring problem. I think we’re hard wired for threes, so it’s no wonder you, and I too, have problems counting to four. I get distracted after three. So I measure two. Twice. Hope it helps.
