Day 582: RIP

I suspect it’ll be a hard episode to listen to. Don’t feel like you need to, but I needed to speak.

  1. Val says:

My sympathies on your loss, Nathan. That’s hard, even if you knew it was coming. *hugs*

  2. Tony says:

I thought this would be a really tough walk to get through, but in some ways it wasn’t. My father abruptly succumbed to leukemia 5 weeks ago. We all thought we would have more time. The several years we imagined turned out to be about 8 months. I can only wish that he had had your sister’s outlook on life and death.

I didn’t want to go to his calling hours for some of the same reasons as you, the attendees that don’t seem to belong etc., but I did and despite those people and their speeches about some guy that didn’t remind me of my dad at all, I think just being there to see the people that really did care helped me grieve. It is a personal decision, but I will cherish those few days where my family came together.

My heart goes out to you, Nate.

  3. Laith says:

My family’s thoughts are with you and yours.

  4. Sandy Crawford says:

My heart goes out to you and your family, Nathan. It is very hard to lose a family member. May God bless all of you and give you comfort. *hugs* Remember the good and fun times. 🙂

  5. Ignatz says:

Nate, I’m sorry for your loss. But thank you for sharing it with us.

    Nathan,

    You have my deepest sympathies.

  7. J.M. Anderson says:

Words can say so little when the heart feels so much. My thoughts are with you during this hard time.

  8. Tara Li says:

Hard to hear, must be harder to handle. All kinds of platitudes available, but they do little good at this point. I’m sorry to hear it. Your phrasing “Her journey ended…” brought to mind a Clannad song “Journey’s End”, which always reminds me that the end of one journey is just the start of a new one.

  9. Darren says:

    You have our sympathies.

  10. Anita Lewis says:

It took a while to know I could listen. Now I cry with you, Nate–partly from your sadness and partly from sensing the beauty of the sister who is with you in your heart.

  11. John H says:

I almost feel like I knew your sister a little from your visit. Our prayers are with you and your family. Thanks for sharing I know it was hard. I lost my brother a while back and it was hard to come to grip with.

  12. StephenK says:

    I’m really sorry Nate.

  13. memline says:

I am so sorry for your loss. We are all thinking of her and you.

The picture on the GoFund It site (I forget the name of the site) is great. Try to get a copy of it. Somebody has it in order to submit it to the site.

PS She had a great smile!

  14. I am so sorry to hear about your sister, Nate. 🙁 She was obviously a very colourful character, and a kind-hearted soul and I feel privileged to have had the chance to “meet” her on your trip out to Maine the year before last. Thank you for sharing the stories, and your thoughts and feelings. I hope you can continue to recall all your fond memories of the past with her without too much sadness.

  15. Jennifer Saar says:

I’m so sorry for your loss, Nathan.
