I work with men and women in dealing with personal, work and life issues and men struggle more when it comes to dealing with real limitation. I realized this years ago when we would hit an issue that a client could not and should not try to resolve. For example, a narcissistic and mean boss. The women seemed to be able to accept that the relationship /situation was not to be fixed but the men kept trying to do something. I think men are socialized to this mode of ‘I can, I am, I know.’ Men have to resolve or be working on resolving an issue while women have a broader continuum in terms of healthy identity which allows for I can’t stance.
