I haven’t installed on a Win8 machine yet, either, but I read that there could be a problem with booting. I remember seeing some work arounds with how you set the bios to boot. Just now I found this article that explains two ways your computer may boot and what to do in each case. It seems pretty simple. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/tired-of-windows-8-how-to-dual-boot-windows-ubuntu/
I’d be interested to know if you do install Linux and how it goes. I want to be ready when it comes time to get another machine. Other people’s stories help a bunch!
I have an iMac. It is 7 yrs old, but works great. I am not a user that uses tons of memory, etc. However, I think Apple, especially iTunes has gone backwards. Last year I ordered a TV show, cheaper than Amazon, BUT, iTunes downloaded every show, to the tune of hours and hours of time. All night actually. HUH? I expected to just stream them. I mean, (as a person I listen to every day says) “Really?” Not again. Steve J is, I bet, rolling in his grave. He was on top of things. Going backwards is not an option and give me Netflix and Amazon every time. If they don’t get with the program, they have lost me. I will check very carefully before I buy my next Mac. They have been so intuitive until now, but iTunes is NOT anymore. Too bad!
