Day 90: Brand New Day

Yesterday I finished the recording project that just wouldn’t end. This morning I talked about how good that felt and began looking forward to what I have to do next.

Nathan, you have commented several times about why anyone would be interested in your morning rambling. For me, your audiobooks were a godsend for my 75 minute morning commute. I am always on the hunt for new material, your easy listening voice combined with a skill for story telling puts me in a listening comfort zone. As an added bonus I have your rambling monolog which I take with me on my two mile late morning walk. I too have a teen who seems to not want to show his full potential, very frustrating. I too have years of experience teaching at the college level, I am tech savvy from a previous career in software development, but technology in my classroom is limited by lack of funding. I am one of the few instructors at this institution who has the background, resources and skill to use the latest in tech tools for instruction and yet I think I may be also the most skeptical in tech application, I value the skill of story telling above gadgetry and flashy tech. Your monolog gives me a chance to have a conversation with myself about what I think and feel about my situation and possible solutions and applications. It’s like being in a conversation where I am not expected to respond which leaves me the opportunity to just think about what your saying. Also the insight into self publishing and professional publishing is invaluable and interesting. Thank you for the Audiobooks and morning monolog.

I agree with Paul. Except on the teaching thing, I am not a teacher so I dont know. Except the education we get from your morning ramble is for me what the internet and the blogs, tweets, posts, you tube, slide show, remote meetings, podcasting and whatever other wonderful tool is for. It is about the moments of learning, and Sar, the more opinions and ideas I am exposed to the better I understand my own position on things.

And should you not see the content in the cast, you have provided us all with:
    – parenting information
    – collaboration across distance how to’s
    – Information on the tools of the collaboration trade
    – Blog world expo information (Did not know it existed)
    – Shown us how to break down an expo to see if it is worth going.
    – Run down of Balticon (I will go, one day).
    – The good side of a creative career and the difficulties with balancing work load, free time and insights into day to day motivations of the creative world.
    – You have provided pointer to other projects that we may wish to know about without the hard sell.
    – You have given us books and technology reviews
    – information of the creative side of your work
    – information about writing business models
    – Shown your colour as an open source Ubuntu linux geek
    – Insight in to a beloved authors work
    – improved my kindle library
    – Given me hours of entertaining podibooks.
    – the list go on and on but its 5:45am in New Zealand and its time for my morning walk

Haven’t listened yet, but YAY on hitting the end of the audio project. Do we get to vote on what comes next? Or perhaps you will take bribes…
