Day 912: SFWA Again

This isn’t the first time I’ve been thinking about the Science Fiction Writers Association (of America? I forget). They’re the “professional writers association” for speculative fiction and would be my national level organization if I had one.

But they don’t let indies in except as second class members.

I talked about that today.

Maybe the “Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America” should be called the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writer slaves of publishers in America. If I were to guess your Myers Briggs type, I think I would have picked INTP. That is mine also, and I noticed more than the occasional similarity in the way we process things. I’m an engineer, not a writer, but we both need to do design and implementation, and also deal with grunge work on the side.

One thought concerning being an INTP, is to remember the distribution of that particular data set. We account for less than 1% of the global population. In a room containing 200 people, there is likely to only be one other INTP and only a handful of any of the other IN’s. By comparison the four ES groups will account for over 60% of the population in the room. We don’t approach the world the way most people do. It’s one of the primary reasons we constantly end up explaining our view point.

I wonder if, Nates book appeal to a group type? Is there an Idea for the list of indy reconmendations if Myer personallity types appeal to a type of person. I have no idea if that is even a thing that you could use this sort of information fore?

I am an INTJ. I understand from the post above that the IN are small in number. It make me wonder how many others in the postcast audiance are IN types? So far there are 3 of us. I am not sure how many people download Nate TOMMW cast, but if it is less than 200 we are beatting the curve. 🙂

INFJ here. Almost a T, but not quite. I worked with an INFP and Ps drive me a little crazy, but I definitely see their value and embrace the diversity–as best I can. 🙂

INTJ Here, differently think is something up with that.
