Day 939: Yikes

I got stuck into Owner’s Share early and forgot all about this until Tara Li reminded me.

Sorry about that. I blame the ferrets.

Why in hell do people feel that it’s not a good story unless someone is suffering torture and pain? That’s one of the reasons I was not as thrilled with the second trilogy of Share novels – they moved way too much towards the angst side of things.

CodeDot – standard blackmail/protection racket crap. Ultimately, at some point, if they become too much of a problem, EVE will have to step on them – because people will just start avoiding their area, and so they get to mine the area for free, and start building an unbalanced force in an area that from what I can tell, they’re not supposed to be basing from (as I kind of understand the point of HiSec to be…) You talk about just accepting it, or moving to another area – I do the same with PvP games – I move to another game.

My experience with PvP games is that griefing is *always* considered a valid career choice. You look at the forums and there are people *bragging* about griefing – and many others cheering them on.

I really enjoy finding the slight differences between the podcast version and the Kindle version of the series. The change from “speeding up” to “slowing down” in Captain’s Share was the biggest change I noticed in the six books. Another small but noticeable change was the addition of a few sentences in the Kindle version of Owner’s Share as Ishmael and Ms. Arellone are leaving to meet Mr. Simpson to finalize the purchase. Those few sentences really clarify why Ms. Arellone shot him a glance. There are other changes I remember seeing but they escape me at the moment. Time to reread the series again:)
