Day 951: One Thursday Morning

I about froze my beard off out there. Even with the extra layers. I had a bit of a surprize when I got back to the house and tried to take off the headset :/

While cost is a major factor in my decision to buy an ebook, another significant factor is space. I have a house full of bookcases which are cramped full of paperbacks and hardbacks. I have got to the point, where I really really have to want a book , before I’ll consider buying a physical copy due to lack of space.

One of the good things about listening to your show in in Australian summer is the crunch crunch sound of snow under-foot! A friend on a station up north had 47oC a few days ago (117 F).

The big factor that swayed me from paper to ebooks is that I can read three times as many books in electronic form. Partly it’s that I can set the font bigger for my aging eyes, but there’s none of this fiddling around with just how I’m holding it under the light. On top of all that, I can read an ebook when both of my hands are otherwise busy (cooking, eating, etc) just by setting it down on the table/counter and merely freeing up a hand to flip the page every once in a while. So, between reading faster and reading in more places, the number of books I read in a given year has tripled since I made the switch to ebooks. As as you said, a lot of that is dark matter to the various industry reports.
