I made level five in Ingress today…and my inventory overflowed. :/

Good walk today, Nathan. Thank you.

    🙂

  2. A couple of thoughts:

    (1) On Ingress causing your recordings to stop: Hm, seemed like you ran ingress concurrently with your recording today and it did not stop the recording (so far, where I am in listening at least), but if it does you might find that turning off sounds (background, effects, speech — under Ops -> Device -> Sound) would stop it from interfering with recording.

    (2) On hitting inventory cap: I assume you verified your account so that you have an 2000 item limit? If not, verify your account (under Ops -> Device) to gain the larger limit. Assuming, however, that you hit the 2000 item cap, there’s a few things you can do in terms of inventory management.

    (a) Recycle all Link Amps. Unless you have a VRLA (you don’t — one cannot hack them), all regular rare link amps (RLA) are useless. Really useless, except in certain silly or very contrived cases.

    (b) Recycle all XMP bursters below level 5 (or even 6), unless you don’t have x6s/x7s/x8s, in which case perhaps keep the x4s. With overcharge (holding down the fire button and releasing when the circle is tight to hit up to 20% bonus), even x4s can be effective at popping mods or damaging resonators.

    (c) Recycle until you’re down to at most 100 each of r5 and r6, and depending on whether there’s rp7/ep7 or rp8/ep8 portals to hack, at most 100 or 120 (if there’s not a lot of level 7 portals) r7, and at most 150 r8. I wouldn’t bother holding on to any more than 50 r4s. If you run out of r4s, just deploy 876655, glyph (it’s an rp4, so you’ll get mostly l4 gear), and then deploy 44.

    (d) Recycle common heat sinks (chs) and common multihacks (cmh), except maybe a couple of each. Better to use rmh/rhs.

    (e) Watch (or not) and recycle all media.

    (f) Turrets aren’t terribly great on their own, but they’re reasonably good combined with a force amp (FA), but if you have lots of turrets and not very many FA, recycle some turrets. Heck, if you have more than 10 of each, recycle.

Hm, hopefully the enl aren’t reading this! 😉

Having a lot of portals around does help alright. I have been gaining AP at a greater rate since my office moved to an area that is heavily green. Destroying their portals daily, and knocking out lots of fields has certainly been adding a lot of points for me. Under a million to go to level 16. =)

Don’t play if you’re not having fun, but hopefully you are. 🙂

  3. P.S. Congrats on reaching ra5! 😀 Just 3 more levels to go until you can help build 8s.

  4. Oops, I was listening to the previous day, I think.

You said you already recycled media – good. 🙂

You get 125 AP for deploying a reso in an empty slot, 65 AP for upgrading someone else’s resos, but 0 AP for upgrading one of your own. Even upgrading one of your own, however, increments your Resonators Deployed stat, which gets you towards a badge, so if you have too many serial upgrades are better than recycling, probably.

I was very happy to hear the last bit of the talk about writing. I am on the edge of my chair to hear the next talk which may include good news on that front. Meanwhile, the Ingress achievement sounds great. I have no clue what that is, but can see that I don’t need it on my stack of stuff to play with. 🙂

  6. Laith says:

    sorry to hijack the thread…

Stephen, it appears to be impossible to change mods once they are installed… is that right or am I just not leveled up enough yet?
