Drivin’ Me Nuts

I’ve just finished the seventh? Eighth trip across town today. I’ve got at least one more — probably two before this day ends.

Yeah. Another red day.

Maybe tomorrow.

One thing’s sure. I’ve never been so glad to see the end of a school year since I was actually IN school.

Nate, before you get to the end of that rope, tie a knot and hang on! I seriously wonder about your reluctance to teach your daughters how to drive. Yes, I know that insurance is expensive, I have three kids and TWO of them are male, read that as an even higher premium than for my daughter. Several insurance companies give discounts for students with good grades, drivers education, and a good driving record. How much easier your day would have been if she could have driven herself! Yes, it would leave you home afoot, BUT what a great excuse to stay at home and write, read, record, nap, or whatever.
I also think that if you used the “privilege” of driving as a reward for class attendance, you might see fewer “sick” days. I know being grounded from driving was never fun.

You have one more year with this child at home. Treasure your time with her. Once she starts college there will be a hole in your life that no amount of freedom can fill.
Best wishes for your upcoming summer.

A man walks into a bar with a steering wheel sticking out of his crotch.
The bartender looks at him and says “that must hurt”.
The guy replies “Yeah, it’s driving me nuts.”

    (only joke I know)

You know, it seemed like you had more time to walk and talk when you had two kids at home, than when you only have one.
