We got our first assignments last night. It was a long meeting followed by a short night. The day has already been productive and if I can get the internet to stay connected long enough to upload it, you’ll hear about it.
And today marks the anniversary of Talking on My Morning Walk. Thanks to all of you for hanging in there with me.
Sorry for posting so late. The link at the Inn went down and I didn’t get to it at the morning session.

I have to wonder if a lot of these first two assignments isn’t about the business of writing (though of course, thinking about accents and how they affect characterization is an excellent side effect!). Kris pounds it over and over in her blog that writers have to think in terms of business. That means, perhaps, that you don’t always get to write just exactly what you want, and that sometimes you’re under a deadline and while you might not be able to write the deathless prose you’d prefer, you should be able to maintain solid workmanship in your writing.
I’m sure other writers have thought of your dodge of using one of these first starters as a jumping board to the longer story – but then again, that might be something that is in the lesson – that sometimes you have to try a variety of things, but to save those pieces, as they may fit into another story later…
Sounds like things are going pretty well, and that you’re enjoying it in a lot of ways! Thanks for posting the pics, too!
Oh, and *HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!* I’ve got them all nicely stored in a directory on my hard drive!
Sounds busy!
Anything that gets you writing more can’t be too bad, eh? 🙂
Happy Anniversary! Can’t believe it’s been a year… how time flies when you’re having fun, eh 🙂
