Oregon Trail: Long Day on the Road.

So, I didn’t get a chance to walk this morning before heading out to the airport. I did record a few thoughts on the drive.

Right now, I’m exhausted from the flight followed by a four hour drive. I’m wondering how soon I’ll need to leave to get back in time for an 11am flight a week from tomorrow.

The festivities start in about two hours so I’m going looking for food before our first meeting. Rumor is, we’ll have no time for eating and sleeping once the first assignments come out.

I’m not counting this as morning walking, so I’ll skip the map. Here’s a picture of the B&B we’re staying in.

Rainy day.

At least if you need inspiration, you’ll only have to look around. For example – what on *EARTH* is that weird thing just left of center under the OFFICE sign, with the two gun barrels wrapped with some kind of cords? Looks like something straight out of the Golden Age of Science Fiction SuperScience, found on some alien planet that collects some kind of inimical radiation that starts killing the scientists as soon as they shut it down to examine it.

It’s a fountain. It’s kinda cool. The water comes out under the little marble ball and overflows down the sides. The verdigris on the surface is gorgeous.

Here’s a close up of the top part.

That is pretty neat! I still say it looks like it belongs in a E. E. “Doc” Smith or John Campbell story, or maybe a Doc Savage pulp episode. There’s W-Rays being emitted by that marble ball! (I can see this device turning up in the Amanartis universe, too…)
