Day 109: Editing and Taxes

There are two constants, if you do this writing thing correctly … you’ve got editing and taxes. Both have deadlines.

A few comments if I may, Sar.
–> I would gently question the wisdom of having taken on the task of teaching at this time. You have (quite rightly) pointed out the higher-than-expected time investment, numerous distractions, not to mention the annoyance(s) of dated literature with which you have been saddled. It all makes for interesting speculative material for your morning walks, but in my humble opinion this whole endeavor strikes me as something of a sophisticated procrastination relative to your career as a writer (and a good writer at that). Your books reach (and influence) thousands, whereas you currently have a mere six (6) students. Hmmmmm. What would a sensible fellow like Ishmael do in a case like this?
–> Excellent news hearing that you are preparing “Double Share” for the publication. Your opinion regarding the strength of this book relative to the first three is spot on (although I dearly love the first three). I just wonder, since your current writing efforts have somewhat dragged on and taken a back seat to the teaching work, have you remembered to swap out the filter cartridges at Odin’s Outpost?

You raise some good points – most of which I address in the next episode.

I should point out that by teaching teachers I do, potentially, influence thousands albeit indirectly.

I should also point out that there were 24 students when the course started. The expectations of the summer semester overwhelmed their availability.

Would I do it again? Yes, probably because – as I’ll point out – it was not a rational decision.
