The secret sauce in the maps is the KMZ file, which is a zip of doc.kml, which is an XML with a big-long-assed string of Lat/Log pairs, plus various PlaceMarks. Simple to decode – generating the pathing would look to be the more interesting part. I expect there’s a program Paula is using, that she could point you at.
